We are open!

23 June 2026

The time has come: we are open! After seven months of intensive renovation, this feels like a massive milestone for us. These were months in which we worked incredibly hard, learned a great deal, and were sometimes put to the test. It certainly wasn’t always easy, but along the way, we repeatedly decided to go that extra mile. It is precisely because of this that the result has become even more beautiful than we had dared to dream beforehand. We are tired, of course, but above all incredibly proud, grateful, and happy.

In those seven months, we have completely transformed our property. We wanted to renovate the building in a way that suits its atmosphere and history, as it is a magnificent old structure. At the same time, everything had to be fully modernized. That combination — respect for the old and comfort for the present — was a recurring theme throughout the entire renovation.

Inside, we have addressed eleven bathrooms and eight kitchens, among other things. All electrical systems have been replaced and expanded, almost all piping has been renewed, and everything has been painted. These were major tasks, often invisible once finished, but they are exactly what makes the building feel fresh, solid, and comfortable again. Every space received attention, from the practical foundation to the ambiance and finishing touches.

A tremendous amount has happened outside as well. We created three new terraces and purchased an additional piece of woodland, which we cleared and partially integrated into the garden. An old water basin located there was filled and transformed into a terrace featuring handmade Balinese beds. New gravel has been laid across the entire grounds, while the old gravel was repurposed, including for the basin. In this way, almost everything was given a new function.

One of the centerpieces is the large, typically Italian pergola, specially crafted by a blacksmith. We have planted wisteria and grapes alongside it, so they can grow beautifully in the coming years. The old, decayed wooden fencing has also been replaced with ironwork and extended at the same time. And then there is the garden: we have now planted at least 1,200 plants and trees. It is already colorful and full of diverse corners, but we are certain it will only become more beautiful with the years.

And we are not finished yet. For example, a bicycle shed is still to come, so that bikes can be kept safely under lock and key. We are also crafting shelves for the bathrooms by hand using our own wood, sourced from trees we have felled. Additionally, we have all sorts of other ideas. And who knows, perhaps guests will soon come forward with wonderful suggestions; we would welcome that wholeheartedly.

Last Sunday, we celebrated the official opening. It was truly special to receive so many warm words and wonderful compliments. From the bathrooms and kitchens to the interior design and the garden: it was all noticed and appreciated. That touched us, precisely because we put so much care, attention, and love into every choice. We hope, of course, that you will soon come to see and experience the result for yourself. And if you would like, we would be delighted to personally share the stories behind this place with you in full detail.
